American Pygmy Kingfisher, Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge, Honduras

We are not seeing as many birds on this trip to Honduras in June as we do on my February trips, but we are getting great looks at the birds we are seeing…my best yet in many cases…and lots of photo ops. This is a Pygmy Kingfisher, the smallest Kingfisher in the Americas. We got within a dozen feet of it in our drifting boat. Amazing!
